Boost Your Solo
Jazz Workshop
Boost your Dancing and Explore Your Unique Dance Style
November 22-23, 2025
First-ever Solo edition of Boost!
Boost is aimed at people who have at least some experience with swing and jazz dancing. New to the dance? Check out our beginner workshop!
This workshop, focused on solo dancing to jazz music, offers a unique blend of classes and practice time that help you see real progress right away.
During the classes, Kris will share her latest understanding of the dance to spark new ideas. Then, in the practice sessions, she’ll provide the time and support you need to incorporate these insights into your dancing and allow you to develop your own unique style.
How does it work?
Each day starts with an hour-long class and a half-hour practice session; after that we’ll have shorter bursts, swapping back and forth between class time and practice time. The classes will inspire you with new ideas and give you specific goals to work on. The practice sessions give you time to incorporate them, and to explore further and develop your unique dance voice.
Over the weekend you’ll have a total of 7 hours of training.
Don’t miss this chance to refine your jazz dancing skills and create lasting memories with like-minded dancers!
All Info at Once
This is an Open-Level Workshop
This workshop is mixed-level solo dancing: from beginners all the way up to very experienced dancers – anyone can benefit from it. We will build up each movement “from scratch” with no assumptions about which moves you know, but we’ll dig deep so there will be a challenge for any level.
If you haven’t done any jazz or swing dancing before, this workshop may be too intense, and you might feel more comfortable joining our Solo Drop-Ins or Beginner Lindy Hop Workshop. On the other hand, if you are eager to work hard or a fast learner, you can even give it a go without any prior experience.
Social Dancing
Friday: Party with Live music by the Swing Boppers
(21:00-24:00, SwingStation)
Every Friday, Laura hosts a social dance, and luckily this weekend there’ll be live music! Please note this party is not run by SwingStep, so your workshop pass does not cover entry. Pay at the door when you arrive: entrance fee (sliding scale payment 3-10€), plus a donation for the musicians.
Saturday: Swingin’ Pizza
(19:00-22:00, SwingStation)
A relaxed hangout evening (thanks to Alicia and Laura!). They’ll be ordering some pizza so we can fill our bellies (please bring a small donation to help cover food costs); feel free to bring some more food to share. Our fantastic and enthusiastic DJ Eggy will provide the swingin’ sounds of Duke Ellington. You can dance your socks off (partnered or solo, whatever moves you in the moment), or you can just eat, chat, and relax.
Workshop Location:
SwingStation Kurfürsten-Anlage 58
69115 Heidelberg
The entrance is on the eastern side of the building, reachable from the Kurfürsten-Anlage itself or from the Kirchstraße. Our studio is on the ground floor, at the end of the hall.
Public Transportation: many busses, streetcars, trains; stops “Hauptbahnhof” or “Stadtwerke”.
Parking: please do not park in the yard, the parking spaces don’t belong to us and you might get a ticket. It’s hard to find parking spots in our area, so you should plan in some extra time. You can try to find street parking in the Kirchstraße or Vangerowstraße, or you might need to go to a nearby Parkhaus (e.g. P1 in the Poststraße) and walk from there.
