Airplane Variations
High-Flying Kicks
Day & Time: Wednesday, 20:15 – 21:15
Dates: 30.07.2025 – 06.08.2025
Airplane is one of the most fun and flashy moves you can do in Charleston. But it's also pretty tricky - you need great balance and coordination to really make it fly.
In this course, we'll play with Airplane Charleston. We'll explore turns, fancy entries and exits, and transitions between Airplane and other classic Charleston positions.
What do I need in order to join this course?
We recommend that you already have experience with Airplane Charleston, ideally you know both Parallel and Opposite Airplane. Other Charleston Classics such as Hand-to-Hand or Tandem Charleston, including Chase into Tandem, should already be in your repertoire.
If, for example, the moves and concepts from our "Charleston Classics" course are already comfortably part of your social dance repertoire, then you have what you need for this course.

Here’s where Airplane Variations takes place:
SwingStation Kurfürsten-Anlage 58
69115 Heidelberg
The entrance is on the eastern side of the building, reachable from the Kurfürsten-Anlage itself or from the Kirchstraße. Our studio is on the ground floor, at the end of the hall.
Public Transportation: many busses, streetcars, trains; stops “Hauptbahnhof” or “Stadtwerke”.
Parking: please do not park in the yard, the parking spaces don’t belong to us and you might get a ticket. It’s hard to find parking spots in our area, so you should plan in some extra time. You can try to find street parking in the Kirchstraße or Vangerowstraße, or you might need to go to a nearby Parkhaus (e.g. P1 in the Poststraße) and walk from there.
