The Rhythm Section
Train Solo, Improve Your Lindy
Day & Time: Monday, 19:00 – 20:00
Dates: 19.08.2024 – 26.08.2024
Rhythm is so crucial to lindy hop. When you understand and express your rhythm better, your movements will look and feel better, and your dancing can better reflect the feel and values of this Black American art form.
In this course we’ll share ideas and exercises that we love, which have helped many students make their dancing more rhythmical, more “in the pocket” of the music. Our goal is to help you develop your ability to hear and react more in each moment of your dancing; we’ll explore a variety of approaches to improve your awareness and build references in your own body, and we’ll give you a few variations and decorations to give your training some fun and variety, and all so that you’ll be better able to express yourself in a way that matches the rhythm section.
This will be a mixed-level course, both newer and very experienced dancers can get a lot out of this training. We'll be training solo, with the main goal of improving your partnered Lindy Hop. To get the most out of this course, you should have some experience with Lindy Hop already, and be comfortable with a basic repertoire of moves in both closed and open positions using Triple-Step footwork. If you've only just started Lindy Hop, you're welcome to join, but be ready for a challenge 🙂

The entrance is on the eastern side of the building, reachable from the Kurfürsten-Anlage itself or from the Kirchstraße. Our studio is on the ground floor, at the end of the hall.
Public Transportation: many busses, streetcars, trains; stops “Hauptbahnhof” or “Stadtwerke”.
Parking: please do not park in the yard, the parking spaces don’t belong to us and you might get a ticket. It’s hard to find parking spots in our area, so you should plan in some extra time. You can try to find street parking in the Kirchstraße or Vangerowstraße, or you might need to go to a nearby Parkhaus (e.g. P1 in the Poststraße) and walk from there.
