Time to Shine
Make Your Own Choreo
Day & Time: Monday, 18:30 – 21:30
Dates: 28.10.2024 – 28.10.2024
Lindy Hop is not only a social dance. It started in the big ballrooms in Harlem, but quickly found its way onto the show stages and into the movie theatres. After this course you can take your first steps on stage yourself! Along with a partner or small group, you'll create a short choreography all of your own. You'll get coaching on how to choreograph and rehearse your creation, and get ready for the stage. Time to shine and show what you've got!
Mixed Level
You DO NOT need to be an expert dancer for this course! You should have at least a little bit of repertoire, but you'll be able to create the choreo to suit your own dance abilities.
No Partner Rotation
You DO need to choose who you'll be training with before the course starts… you can work with one partner, or you can work with a larger group (maximum 6 people per group). Your choreo can be partnered or solo or a mix. But you should decide before the course starts.
In this course you will create your own Lindy Hop or Solo Jazz routine. We have a concrete goal: to perform at an upcoming social 🙂 Nobody is forced on stage - but we are sure that it will be a ball!
- You'll learn what makes a good routine
- We'll coach you step-by-step through a process you can use to create your routine
- You learn important tools & tips not only to dance, but to perform
You should have at least a little bit of repertoire (if you've only been dancing for a few weeks then this course will be too difficult), but this course is not only for the "fanciest" dancers, so…
If you want to do a partnered choreo: you should know at least a few moves in open and closed position, and feel comfortable with social dancing.
Or, if you want to do a solo jazz choreo, alone or with a group: you should know at least a few moves and feel comfortable dancing them in flow (maybe in choreographies you've learned, or maybe just improvising or jamming with friends).
If you have this, plus a willingness to experiment and try things out, then you have everything you need 🙂
You also don’t need prior show experience, and you will get guidance on what makes a good choreography, help with song choice and editing, and get plenty of feedback/coaching on your routine.
