Course Level: Experienced

Understanding the various layers of the music will help you hear a lot more in the music and therefore have an easier time knowing what is happening in the song while you are dancing. This will help you better know when to express what and with what feel.

What will I learn in this course?

In this course, we intend to go from basics all the way up to very complex concepts in musicality, but intended for intermediate and advanced dancers.

This course will improve your partner dancing immeasurably, but the training you can do completely alone, no partner needed.

What should I know before joining?

You should be comfortable with hearing the 1 in the music. You should have been social dancing to swing music for at least 1-2 years before taking this course.

If you are not sure whether the course is right for you, don’t hesitate to ask us 🙂

This course is split into two halves: lindy hop sugar pushes and charleston swingouts. Both are classic moves and should be part of any dancers’ repertoire. Along the way you’ll learn a lot of footwork variations, creating a new feeling and style in your dancing.

What will I learn in this course?

Each of these moves will come with its own fun variations, but this checklist shows the fundamental moves you’ll learn in the class. Once you know these, you’re ready to move on to the next level.

lindy hop, sugar push: push-break, hovering, classiccharleston swingout: basic, kick-step variations

We highly recommend people to take Swing 6 multiple times.

What should I know before I join this course?

The first half of the course requires footwork control and rhythm that builds off of Swing 4; in the second half, the Charleston experience from Swing 5 will pay off. Taking Swing 5 and Swing 6 in parallel can be a great option too.

The amazing dancer Al Minns once was asked what Lindy Hop is; he said, “It’s when you send the girl out and then she does the twist”. In this course we’ll do just that! Starting with the classic Lindy circle and into a basic version of the swingout, we’ll of course also add fancy variations. As a leader you will learn how to position yourself to support your follower in more complex movements. And as a follower you will learn the classic swivel, to decorate your dancing with beautiful hip twists.

What will I learn in this course?

Each of these moves will come with its own fun variations, but this checklist shows the fundamental moves you’ll learn in the class. Once you know these, you’re ready to move on to the next level.

lindy circle: from closed or openswingout: from closed or openvariations: outside turn, texas tommytwists: swivels and switches

We highly recommend people to take Swing 4 multiple times.

What should I know before I join this course?

In Swing 4 we’ll take you a lot deeper into the world of lindy hop. Being exposed to swing dance classes for over 4 months is important to be in flow, so that you have the muscle memory and skill to easily perform the basics of Lindy Hop before tackling the movements in this course. This is why we recommend you take Swing 4 after you have mastered Swing 3.
